I’ve been working in the field of person-centred therapeutic care for 25 years, initially as a specialist coach and then also in the last 10+ years as a hands-on therapist and movement teacher. More recent training in Celtic spiritual guidance / soul friendship allows me to include the soul dimension of the human being and offer truly ‘wholistic’ care. I see how people can live into their sense of being fully human when they can bring the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual parts of themselves into conversation with each other.
And why is this so important? Well, we are all living with a sense that the world is out of joint. There are small pockets of recognition of this reality, but the dominant story is that things must carry on like they always have done, and we just need to try harder doing more of the same.
But many of us live with a great sense of unease. And we need to find out what we can do when we are feeling so troubled.
I know what this feels like because since the pandemic years of great change I have stopped resisting my anxious feelings about the trouble the world is in. I have let go of believing that I can manipulate the future according to my needs, and I have come to accept that our life story here on earth is an altogether smaller story:
We are here to protect all beings – the human and the more-than-human – on the planet. We are here to have the most life-enhancing relationships with each other and with other species and the natural world.
We have a responsibility to help each other and to bring heart-filled joy to each other and other species we come into contact with.
We want to be part of the promise of a happy future for the generations to come.
These sound like small tasks, but they are big in practice.
AND WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING CHANGES IN YOURSELF, THAT’S WHEN IT’S GOOD TO HAVE ANOTHER PERSON TO WORK WITH.
You know these ideas make sense, you’re trying to work out what to do, and a really good place to start is to go within, exploring changes for yourself and healing yourself from old ways that no longer work for you.
When we nurture our curiosity and our imagination towards different and more healthful futures, we allow ourselves to turn away from fear and anxieties and begin to live into a future of healing and transformation.
So, how can you tap in to the answers? I have explored many kinds of practices that offer various ways of finding the answers to how we can live a right life.
If you’re interested in a whole-body, hands-on approach
CranioSacral Therapy might be the answer, giving you a way to feel the impact in your whole mind-body and find release from tensions, aches and anxieties in a way that touches your whole being, without judgement, and with you in control.
If you’re curious about seeding or cultivating your inner world
The creative path of Celtic spiritual guidance and friendship invites you to bring your own beliefs for exploration. Through creativity and compassionate conversation, you can grow in richness and experience of your inner imaginal world using art, pictures, literature, writings from spiritual traditions, and become stronger in dealing with the future that emerges.
If you’re looking for something more physical
Gentle yoga movement can in time help you to release pain and calm your nervous system in the comfort of a small and friendly class.
Alongside these approaches, I also offer relaxing and releasing sound massage therapy that will support you on your journey to letting go of anxious feelings and help you to come home to your body.
On the other hand, if you’re a neurodivergent person with processing differences
You might be looking for ways to take care of yourself better through coaching.
By talking with Bernadette, things I’ve struggled with for years have started to ‘unlock’ and completely make sense for the first time. What Bernadette offers is unique, she’s a great listener and incredibly knowledgeable. For me, she’s been an oasis of calm understanding in the sea of chaos that dyspraxia can feel like at times. A word about dandelions
You will see the image of the dandelion seed heads used on my website that I think are beautiful. The dandelion flower represents revival and re-greening after winter and it is an early source of food for pollinators. For me, the dandelion clock is an image of simple delights. It represents durability, regeneration and growth. Each seed head is unique and perfect in its difference – just like all of us.
